La salute è una questione di spazio 
Necessità di essere in un vuoto, in uno stato di solitudine. Il vero salto, la vera crescita di un individuo ha luogo quando egli è totalmente solo. E’ nei rapporti umani o nel mondo reale che egli si assicura del proprio salto o della propria crescita. Ma non è nei rapporti umani o nel mondo reale che ha luogo la vera crescita.
Quando uno è fisicamente solo, non è necessariamente davvero solo, perché nella sua mente ci saranno degli “estranei interiori”, immagini di altri. Egli teme il giudizio di questi altri e quindi non si sente solo. Però, quando è con una persona che lo comprende a fondo ed esattamente, può lasciare che questi si prenda cura degli estranei interiori di modo che egli è temporaneamente sollevato dal bisogno di farlo lui. Liberato in tal modo, può allora proseguire la sua ricerca interiore senza interferenze.
La vera solitudine può richiedere talvolta la presenza di un ascoltatore empatico o di un amico spirituale. Il compito primario del terapeuta è quello di creare uno spazio di una particolare qualità affinchè l’individuo sia liberato.
La creazione di uno spazio sgombro dagli appiccicosi visitatori provenienti dal passato e dal futuro deve essere uno dei principali ingredienti della terapia. Tale spazio comincia con il terapeuta.
Quando il terapeuta ha spazio dentro sé, può essere in armonia con chiunque, non solo con quelli che approva, o che la società approva. Se non riusciamo ad accettare qualcuno è perché il nostro spazio è contaminato.
Lo spazio terapeutico da la possibilità di esprimere vergogna, colpa, paura, rabbia, dolore ed altro materiale penoso.
Attaccamento rifiuto
Possimao trovarci ad approvare un paziente e a disapprovarne un altro, ci piace avere questo paziente e ci dispiace avere quest’altro. Vorremmo avere solo pazienti di un certo tipo e detestiamo avere a che fare con altri, che magari sembrano confusi, ci fanno sentire inadeguati, hanno un atteggiamento nei confronti della vita diverso da l nostro o suscitano in noi emozioni che troviamo difficile trattare. E’ una forma di tendenza a giudicare.
Presunzione scoraggiamento
Possiamo essere trasportati dall’entusiasmo per la nostra abilità o la nostra intelligenza, oppure possiamo essere sfiduciati e inadeguati e pensare di essere incapaci di aiutare chiunque, ma in entrambi i casi finiamo col preoccuparci di più della nostra immagine che del paziente. Cerchiamo interiormente l’approvazione del pubblico, del paziente, o del nostro capo, o del nostro critico interiore.
Se siamo tutti parte l’uno dell’altro, la realizzazione della nostra vera natura sarà qualcosa che genera intrinsecamente armonia.
L’aiutare gli altri non può essere separato da fare qualcosa per se stesso.
Lo shiatsu è tranquillità in azione. Perfezionare lo shiatsu nella nostra vita può rivoluzionare la nostra esistenza, aiutandoci a liberarci delle vecchie abitudini, scegliere un’attività che abbia uno scopo. Vivere con fiducia e portare pace ad altri.
Lo shiatsu è come lasciare che un bicchiere d’acqua fangosa diventi limpida. Se smettiamo per un po’ di agitarla, l’acqua diventa limpida da sola. La calma interiore richiede tranquillità. Chi pratica shiatsu ha scoperto che il modo migliore per controllare la mente è controllare il corpo. Quando il corpo è calmo la mente si acquieta. Lo stato mentale di massima calma è chiamato “corpo e mente scompaiono”.
Quando uno è felice, non trova tanto difficile prestare attenzione alle cose buone. Quando intervengono delle preoccupazioni, diventiamo sempre più dominati da esse e perdiamo l’originaria semplicità fanciullesca.
